Kilamanjaro.  After the doctors fused three vertebrae and told him he may never walk again, he defied all the odds by being back on that very same course less than a year later.  When we asked him what drove him, he smiled and said “What story do you want to tell?  Do you want to say you sat around on your couch all day, or that you conquered a mountain?”
